Reds open up Playoff campaign with big Preston win.

In a commanding display of skill and determination, Congleton Grizzlies dominated the court as they clashed with Preston Basketball Club in the first round of the under 14’s playoffs.

From the opening tip-off, Congleton surged ahead, establishing an early lead that they never relinquished.

The first quarter saw the Grizzlies relentless offense and stifling defense overwhelm Preston, with the scoreboard showing a commanding 19-2 lead in favor of the Grizzlies. As the game progressed into the second quarter, Congleton continued to assert their dominance, extending their lead to a staggering 38-9 by halftime.

Despite Preston’s efforts to mount a comeback, the Grizzlies remained unfazed, maintaining their momentum throughout the third quarter and widening the gap even further to 53-18. As the final buzzer sounded, the scoreboard displayed a resounding victory for Congleton Grizzlies, with a final score of 71-23.

Looking ahead to the next round, Coach Tom Watson expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance, emphasizing the importance of staying focused and continuing to execute their game plan against Barrow Thorns Blue, who the Reds now face in the U14s Playoffs Quarter Finals.

“We showed great teamwork and determination tonight,” said Coach Watson. “But we can’t afford to let up. We need to carry this momentum into our next matchup and keep pushing forward.”

MVP was awarded to Tom Power.  Congratulations Tom for a top performance!
