** MATCH REPORT **

The Grizzlies under 12’s were on the road again, this time to face the undefeated Cheshire Wire.

The home fixture had seen the Grizzlies lose 24-104 but the boys had worked hard in training sessions and really improved their game so we arrived in Warrington hoping for a better result.

The Grizzlies numbers were low, only arriving with a squad of 7 and things did not get off to a good start with Miles Byrom picking up an injury during the warm up!

We were undeterred and started well in the first quarter, unfortunately it was not enough against a very strong team and the quarter finished with the grizzlies down 30 points to 9.

The boys regrouped in the break and came out in the second quarter with energy, this was fuelled by Miles’s return to the game from his injury. This renewed drive showed on the scoreboard with the Grizzlies putting another 19 points on the board. The half ended with the score at 56-28 in favour of Cheshire Wire.

The third quarter started as the second had finished with the Grizzlies showing real heart. The boys were not deterred by the score line and continued to push to the basket making another 16 points in this period.

By the beginning of the fourth quarter Cheshire Wire had pulled away and the victory looked like it had slipped to far from reach but again the boys were not phased by the score line and they continued to play their game and push to the basket at every opportunity that they got.

The game finished with the Grizzlies losing 108-60 but the score line was not a fair representation of how much effort the Grizzly boys put in to the game, they had just faced a much stronger opponent. The club is very proud of all of the hard work that they boys have put in over the last few weeks and I’m confident we will only get better from here.
