Sunday saw the Grizzles under 14 Red team take to the court in their first game of the new season, facing off against Manchester Magic.

The first quarter began well with the Grizzlies scoring on their first possession. The baskets kept coming with the Grizzlies putting on a dominant performance against a well organised Magic team. The quarter ended with the Grizzlies up 19-7.

The second quarter started in the same way the first quarter ended, with the Grizzlies putting on a real show of force. The Magic had no answer for Congleton’s strength driving to the basket and they began to score at will. With multiple rebounds at both ends of the court the Magic had no answers. The quarter ended with the Grizzlies up 38-14.

After the halftime break Manchester Magic had regrouped and came out fighting. They pushed hard on offence and tightened up their defence, the Grizzlies fought hard but just couldn’t find the same opportunities they previously had done, both teams scored 8 in the quarter and it ended Congleton up 46-22.

Coach Tom was able to get the boys focused in the break between the thirds and fourth quarters and the fourth quarter was another dominant performance from the Congleton boys.

The game finished with the Grizzlies winning 65-29.
